research the differences between tecnical component and professional component how each affects the reimbursement from the insurance carrier
Weegy: [ ] ---- These changes are taking effect in two phases starting at the beginning of 2011 and again near the end of 2011. [ [ Basically the letter goes on to state that with regards to imaging services, radiological procedures performed during the same visit, the Technical Component of the first procedure will be reimbursed at 100 percent, with a 50% reduction in the technical component for the second and subsequent services during the same visit. This continues to mention that the reductions will apply anytime more than one service on the ?List of Codes? posted on the website of that Insurance Company is performed on the same date of service. No reduction will be applied to the professional component of the service, meaning that the professional component will be reimbursed at 100 percent for the first scan and any subsequent scans. Find Me If You Can :) You now have to go onto the Insurance Company?s web site and download the total list of these codes so you are aware of what and when you will be discounted for these services. Therefore, make sure you do this and can be aware of each of these codes and know when you will be losing 50% of your reimbursement every time you perform more than one test or procedure on the same day. I am waiting for the next step which will be to reduce the reimbursement for the 3rd test down to 25 percent and I belive this is coming if not already here in some instances It never ceases to amaze me how the industry continues to find new and improved ways of taking bites out of our pay and at the same time continue to raise premiums all the while claiming poverty and paying out large bonus? for saving money on the corporate level. UP! UP! And Away So as the cost of our overhead increases, our maintenance contracts increase and the general cost of doing business keeps going up, our reimbursements not only goes down but the way in which we are being reduced goes down as well. ] ] (More)
